New leaves emerge a burgundy red but as they mature they become a dark green and as the leaves mature they will turn almost black. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings. The Philodendron Black Cardinal prefers bright, indirect light.

Black cardinal
Nice size only lost a lot of soil during shipping. Moonlight was more compact soil.

Philodendron black cardinal
I ordered two Philodendron black cardinal. Both arrived packaged well with new leaves. They seem to be acclimating well. I look forward to watching them grow and watch the leaves change color as they age. Thank you.

Not a quality plant (my others were)
I ordered about 15 plants and they were all very healthy upon arrival except for this one and a large Alocasia that had been underneath all is the other plants. The others were all packaged very well but upon opening this one and taking off the tape I noticed that this particular plant was basically shipped with the top half of the pot missing soil! There wasn’t any soil in the box so none fell out, it must’ve been originally shipped out like this. The roots were dried out because the top half of them were completely uncovered, my fingers are crossed that this plant will survive! I do want to reiterate that I’m very happy with my other plants, this one must’ve just been a miss.
