The Maria Gardens family owned and operated garden centers in Strongsville and North Royalton serving the greater Cleveland area, and with corporate and wholesale offices in columbia station has roots 40 years and 3 generations deep. The sprawling, beautiful greenhouses, nurseries and gift shops our customers are familiar with today have humble beginnings in a backyard greenhouse, circa 1970, where founder Dave Stopper Sr. began his enterprise.

Maria Gardens originated officially at its current location on Royalton Road in the heart of Strongsville, coinciding in the spring with the birth of Dave Stopper's sixth child, Maria. Hence the company was named. For the next few decades, Marias became one of the premier plant wholesalers to local food stores and retailers. The location has since renovated the owner's office and wholesale department to a spacious retail garden center currently operated by Larry Stopper.

Still active in the business, owner and founder Dave Stopper, Sr. found time and energy to not only captain the company softball team at first base, but start new wholesale facilities in Sheffield Lake and Columbia Station. In 1985 he decided to expand once more this time to North Royalton where his fourth son, Tim Stopper, Sr., who remembers watering roses at age 5 in his back yard, began building the modest farm market to a full scale greenhouse and garden center. Today the North Royalton operation proudly offers products and services for complete landscaping to bulk supplies and delivery.

Over the years changes and progress have seemed at times sudden and dramatic. The constant driving force within the company has been, and always will be, the reputation and relationships we have formed with customers, clients, employees and local business owners. Maria Gardens has been truly blessed in getting to know our neighbors and would sincerely like to thank you for the opportunity to have been of service.
